“Generations”   A garden kaleidoscope by Peggy and Steve Kittelson and grandson, Sawyer Wise

The name “Generations” seems appropriate as this was a collaboration between Peggy, Steve, and grandson Sawyer.  In many cases, the joy of  kaleidoscopes has been introduced to children by their grandparents, becoming a special shared experience that continues throughout life and passed on to the next generation.

As you look into each silver anodized aluminum tube, which contains a different mirror system, you will see a different image, and as you turn the bowl the image changes.  The bowl is mounted on a heavy duty ball bearing for ease of turning, and features holes in the bottom to facilitate drainage if planted in directly, or can hold a variety of colorful objects that will create interesting symmetrical images.  The kaleidoscope barrels are weatherized making them favorable for outdoor display.

This garden scope features three different triangular mirror systems in different configurations:

1.  2-mirrors set at a 60 degree angle and the 3^rd side black which creates a mandala image
2. 3 mirrors set a 60 degree angle creating a triangle image which is repeated all the way back to your eye.
3. 3 mirrors set at 30-75-75 degree angle creating one mandala with repeating portions of mandalas back to your eye.

Approximate size: 58” tall, turning bowling is 22” diameter, whole scope 37” wide. The weight is in excess of 80 pounds.

The scope can be bolted down.

This garden scope becomes a piece to be enjoyed by those who view it, sparking conversations between guests, family, and indeed, “Generations”!
